“Still, like air, I’ll rise.” – Maya Angelou
When you arrive at Valaterra, you don’t just step into a venue — you come home to something sacred. A place shaped by intention, legacy, and nature’s quiet power. Valaterra is more than land; it’s a living container for healing.
Land. Legacy. Love.
Nestled in the rolling hills of Oldham County, Kentucky, Valaterra offers 100+ acres of forested trails, open skies, and quiet corners. Just outside Louisville, it feels like stepping through a veil into peace, birdsong, rustling leaves, the sacred geometry of nature holding you steady.
The vision began with Valerie Young. After her stage IV cancer diagnosis, she dreamed of creating a refuge for healing. With the support of friends, she founded The Young Family Foundation so Valaterra could become a nonprofit sanctuary where connection and care are accessible to all.

What It Feels Like to Be Here
Driving up the lane, the noise of the world softens. Inside The Sanctuary House, simplicity meets comfort: fireplaces, soft light, warm wood. Porches and patios open into gathering spaces. Trails invite reflection, labyrinths guide your steps, firepits spark belonging.
Valaterra is more than beautiful — it’s a place where you feel seen, safe, and held in the lineage of women who tended before you.
The Mission that Holds This Land
Through the Valerie’s Grace Program, The Young Family Foundation supports healers and practitioners who serve underserved communities. The belief is simple: healing is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
Valaterra exists as a living legacy of compassion, offering space for women to reclaim their stories, rise in their strength, and remember they are never alone.
Valaterra & Savage Daughter Rising
This retreat meets Valaterra in perfect alignment. Themes of nurturance, protection, and guidance unfold more deeply here, where every ceremony is grounded in the land’s quiet wisdom.
Walk the trails. Sit by the fire. Let Valaterra hold you as you heal.
